The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 28, 2022, New Jersey time. A number of K-Pop groups took home trophies at the international music awards event. BTS was nominated in six categories at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. Out of the six categories, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook took home one trophy, Group of the Year.
BTS was nominated alongside BLACKPINK, City Girls, Imagine Dragons, Silk Sonic, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Maneskin. With the award received this year, it means that BTS has taken home the Group of the Year award for the fourth year in a row. This makes BTS break a new record for winning at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
They are the group with the most Group of the Year trophies in history. Meanwhile, BTS was also nominated in the categories of Best K-Pop, Best Visual Effects, Best Choreography, Best Metaverse Performance, and Song of the Summer through Jungkook's collaboration with Charlie Puth. BTS did not attend the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
It is known that they are busy with their respective activities. Previously, BTS decided to focus on individual activities after holding the Permission to Dance on Stage concert tour and performing at the Grammy Awards. J-Hope is the first member of BTS to officially release a solo album. However, it is still unknown which member will follow J-Hope's steps to release a solo album.
The other BTS members are known to be currently in the process of working on their respective works. Even though they are busy with individual activities, that doesn't mean BTS doesn't do activities together as a group. They are confirmed to be holding a free concert in Busan titled BTS Yet to Come in Busan on October 15, 2022.
