Lee Do Hyun talks about his plans in the upcoming years, including enlisting in the military. Moreover, the actor dishes out his growth as an actor and achievements throughout his career. In an exclusive interview with Star News, the 26-year-old actor shared his thoughts about taking home recognitions such as the Rookie of the Year award at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards and starring in multiple K-dramas in the same year. 

He mentioned that it was the "first time" in his life that he got to receive such huge and several awards; however, the actor pointed out that he wanted to live his life "as humble as possible." The "Sweet Home" actor also recalled the experience and shared how nervous he was accepting the award in front of a huge audience, adding that some of the people he "admired" were in front of him. 

Apart from the 2021 AAA trophy, Lee Do Hyun also won Best Actor and Best Couple Award with Go Min Si at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards for their "Youth of May performance." In addition, he also bagged Best New Actor at the 57th BaekSang Arts Awards for the hit rom-com series "18 Again." From raking awards to starring in back-to-back series, Lee Do Hyun showed that he might be the next big thing in the industry. 

He welcomed the year headlining the melodrama "Youth of May," portraying the role of medical student Hwang Hee Tae, who was caught up between his family and relationship with Kim Myung Hee at the height of a chaotic era in South Korea.  After wrapping up in June, he then starred in tvN's "Melancholia" with Im Soo Jyung.  Aside from his projects, the 26-year-old heartthrob shared his plans regarding enlistment. 

Speaking to Star News, Lee Do Hyun says he hasn't decided yet the exact date for him to join the mandatory service, but he wanted to be ready and go when the time comes. For him, he calls this journey a "maturing phase" and admits he isn't bothered doing the mandatory service.  Before enlisting, the actor says that he "wanted to meet" his fans first but must prioritize everyone's health and safety due to the COVID-19. 

As fans would notice, some actors transform or "glow up" after being months in the military. For Lee Do Hyun, he says that he is "curious" how he will look like after the mandatory military service. The actor also pointed out that he wanted to gain weight and "target to reach 100 kg" while completing his duties, saying that it is the "only chance" for him to reach his ideal weight.
