On August 28 local time, the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. MTV's annual awards show is hosted by Nicki Minaj , LL Cool J , and Jack Harlow. One month ago, the VMAs were known to have nominated several K-Pop groups such as ITZY, BTS, TWICE, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids and SEVENTEEN to their awards.

Launching Kpopstarz , among the six groups, SEVENTEEN was nominated in three award categories, namely Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year with the song 'Rock With You' and Best K-Pop with the song 'HOT.' Despite not being able to attend the event in Newark, SEVENTEEN managed to take home the Push Performance of the Year award.

MTV PUSH itself is a program that includes interviews, stories, and exclusive performances of selected rising artists. In 2021, SEVENTEEN became the first K-Pop group selected to be covered on MTV PUSH. With this achievement, apart from being the first K-Pop group to appear on MTV PUSH, SEVENTEEN is now also the first K-Pop group to ever win Push Performance of the Year in VMAs history.

However, due to not being able to receive the award in person, SEVENTEEN also sent a video message to give their acceptance speech. Vernon stated, "It is a great honor to appear as the first K-Pop artist on MTV PUSH and even better (to be an artist) to receive the MTV Push Performance Of The Year award. Thank you very much. We are on tour right now, so we can't be there with you guys in person."

Seungkwan added, "But we hope you all have the best life ever. Thank you."   While Mingyu said, "Thank you VMAs and thank you our fans, Carat, for all your love and support." Meanwhile, to coincide with the 2022 MTV Music Video Awards, SEVENTEEN just performed their 'BE THE SUN' concert in Washington DC.

Meanwhile, on August 30 and September 1 local time, they will continue concerts in Atlanta and Belmont Park before finally flying to Canada and holding concerts there. However, only 11 members will be able to participate in the concert in Atlanta on August 30 because Joshua and Hoshi tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after they arrived in Washington DC.
