BLACKPINK finally released their second full album titled BORN PINK. Shut Down was chosen as the title track on their latest album. Along with the release of the album, BLACKPINK also released the MV for the song Shut Down. Unlike the previous releases, Pink Venom, Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, and Lisa bring a unique combination of classical music with hip hop.
Shut Down is a song composed by TEDDY and 24. TEDDY also co-wrote the lyrics for this song with Danny Chung and Vince. The classical music used as a sample in the song Shut Down is Paganini's La Campanella. The combination of classical music and hip hop at Shut Down brings a new color to BLACKPINK's music.
Besides Shut Down, BLACKPINK also released 5 new songs on the BORN PINK album. There's Typa Girl, Yeah Yeah Yeah whose lyrics were also written by Rose and Jisoo, Hard to Love, The Happiest Girl, as well as Tally. In addition, BLACKPINK also included two previously released songs on the BORN PINK album, namely Pink Venom and Ready for Love.
In an interview with Xportsnews before the release of the album BORN PINK, Jisoo said that she had prepared this song for quite a long time. So, he is happy to finally be able to show their hard work to BLINKs. "Because this is an album we've been working on for a long time, I'm very happy to be able to show this album to BLINKs," said Jisoo.
"Especially because many people like our pre-release song, Pink Venom, we are happy to be able to promote the song with passion. Because of that we were able to comeback with happy feelings," he continued. Through the song Shut Down, Jennie admitted that she wanted to take her charisma to a higher level.
Moreover, the combination of classical music and hip hop makes this song bring a new image. "Shut Down is a song that takes BLACKPINK 's consistent charisma to a higher level. The combination of classical music and trendy hip hop is very memorable and brings new feelings. So this song is very interesting," he concluded.
