FT Island's Choi Min-hwan has again denied allegations of prostitution that were accused of being one of the reasons for his divorce from Yulhe. He instead accused Yulhee of being the reason for their divorce.
Through Dispatch on Monday January 13, 2025, he claimed the real reason for the divorce was that Yulhee often disappeared from home and his ex-wife's irregular sleeping patterns. Choi Min-hwan also said that their five-year marriage faced various problems because of Yulhee's sleeping habits, which sometimes lasted up to 18-20 hours a day.
He also accused Yulhee of often being away from home. The musician, who was born in 1992, said that these problems led to repeated conflicts that led him to file for divorce from Yulhee in 2023. He claimed that Yulhee's allegations regarding his nighttime activities were not a major factor in their divorce.
Despite admitting to visiting the places Yulhee mentioned, Choi Min-hwan claimed that it was just one of many conflicts in their marriage. Choi Min-hwan admitted that his visit caused a misunderstanding but he immediately apologized and reconciled with Yulhee at that time.
Choi Min-hwan also denied Yulhee's claims regarding conflicts with her family and her obligations as the primary caregiver following their divorce. He shared his frustration over Yulhee canceling the agreement regarding alimony and handing over property a year after the divorce and now Yulhee is demanding custody of their three children.
Choi Min-hwan and Yulhee married in 2018 and divorced in December 2023. However, conflict over their marriage emerged last year when Yulhee uploaded a video accusing Choi Min-hwan of the divorce. She accused her ex-husband of frequently visiting nightclubs, having affairs, marital violence, and conflicts over child support before their divorce.
The controversy prompted Choi Min-hwan to withdraw from the show The Return of Superman and take a hiatus from his activities with FT Island. Although Choi Min-hwan was investigated by the police on charges of prostitution and sexual harassment, the Gangnam Police Department released him due to insufficient evidence.
