Drama Squid Game received the title 'A New History of K-Contents' thanks to the award he just won. The Netflix original drama made history by winning 6 wins at the famous 2022 Emmy Awards ( 74th Primetime Emmy Awards ). South Korean media Kstar KBS on Tuesday September 13, 2022 reported that the drama Squid Game successfully won 6 awards at the 2022 Emmy Awards.
Drama Squid Game was nominated in 14 nominations across 13 categories, including 'Best Drama Series'. Drama Squid Game was successfully aligned with other dramas as a nominee for the main award for 'Best Drama Series'. Even though it didn't win the award, Squid Game managed to make history by joining the 'Best Drama Series' nomination.
The six awards that the Squid Game production team brought home were 'Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series', which was won by actor Lee Jung Jae. Lee Jung Jae is one of the main characters, he plays the character Seong Gi Hun in Squid Game. Next there is director Hwang Dong Hyuk who won the 'Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series' award.
Hwang Dong Hyuk became the first Korean director to win the award. A total of 6 categories were accepted by the Squid Game production team. Two recently announced awards on 13 September 2022 and four previously announced awards on 4 September 2022 '74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards'.
Actress Lee Yoo Mi managed to take home the 'Outstanding Guest Actress' award. Lee Yoo Mi managed to win the hearts of the audience through the character Ja Yeong in Squid Game. In addition, the production team also received awards for 'Outstanding Production Design', 'Outstanding Stunt Performance', and 'Outstanding Visual Effects'.
Drama Squid Game managed to become a non-English Netflix drama that recorded 1,650,450,000 hours of viewing in just 28 days since its release. The drama Squid Game also managed to top Netflix's Top TV Show in several countries. In June, the production team confirmed that it would release a second season of Squid Game. The second season of Squid Game is planned to air at the end of 2024.
