NCT's Yuta has recently been confirmed as one of the main players in the latest Japanese drama titled 'Play It Cool, Guys' which is a drama adaptation of the popular manga and anime series. In the drama, Yuta plays the shy and awkward character Hayate Ichikura. Hayate Ichikura is a college student who has a personality lacking, and is always worried about his future.
When he does something stupid and messes up something, he tries to be indifferent and seems cool on the outside. But actually, Hayate Ichikura felt very embarrassed and wanted to pass out after doing something stupid. In short, he is the shy type and easily regrets. Responding to the character he plays, Yuta said that they have very different characters.
"When I received this drama script, it was very different from what I thought about the definition of awkward that contradicts me," said Yuta, as quoted from the Twitter account @SM_NCT on Friday March 10, 2023. Even so, Yuta actually felt challenged to portray the character Hayate Ichikura, who was the complete opposite of his original character.
Yuta also confessed that playing different characters in a drama helped him to find a balance of character within himself. The idol who was born in 1995 said, "Through this character, I can have a pleasant experience in expressing the character's balance through acting."
"Even though I'm still not good at doing that, I would be very happy if the audience who saw this drama would feel more relaxed and comfortable. Apart from that, they would also feel nervous, but also get healing for a week," he added. Yuta is known as a member of the boy group NCT 127 who has a strong and charismatic appearance on stage.
Playing a character that is different from his original nature certainly invites high attention from fans who of course already know the original character Yuta who is frank and to the point in expressing his feelings. Fans can't wait to witness the introverted side of NCT Yuta through his role as Hayate Ichikura in his latest Japanese drama titled 'Play It Cool, Guys'.
