Fans of the boy group SEVENTEEN, or what is known as CARAT, admit that they are furious with the Follow to Seoul concert ticket sales system which uses a lottery system. Quoting from Allkpop on Saturday May 27, 2023, the issue of selling SEVENTEEN concert tickets , Follow to Seoul, arose when ticket prices skyrocketed to 154,000 - 198,000 won (around Rp. 1.7 million - 2.2 million).
This is a price beyond the price some fans have to pay to purchase an official membership, 22,000 won (approximately $2.99 USD), the only way to have access to pre-sale ticket sales. Not only was the high price for the seats on the third and fourth tiers, which were the furthest away from the stage, it also infuriated fans.
Meanwhile, Pledis Entertainment introduced a ticket sales system for fan clubs with a lottery system. In order for fans to take part in pre-sale ticket sales, all fan club members must follow the raffle system. Those who are selected through a lottery system will later be given the opportunity to buy pre-sale tickets.
However, those who manage to win the lottery system to participate in purchasing pre-sale tickets must pay in advance, without knowing which seat they will occupy. After completing payment, if a fan does not like the seat that has been assigned to them and intends to swap seats, they will be charged a cancellation fee.
For general ticket sales, the agency also stated that some seats would not be sold during pre-sale ticket sales. However, many fans tend to opt for pre-sale tickets, fearing they won't get tickets in general sales. The lottery system implemented by Pledis Entertainment is a ticket sales system previously used by boy group TXT for their concerts in Japan.
However, this is the first time SEVENTEEN has used this system for the Follow to Seoul concert which will be held in July. CARAT expressed their frustration with the raffle system which they think is detrimental to fan club members.
This is because they pay the fan club registration fee outside of the ticket price, but they still have to follow the lottery system and try their luck whether they have the opportunity to be selected to take part in the pre-sale ticket sales or not. They also do not have the right to choose their preferred seat.
