EXO's D.O. will return to the big screen through the film project The Moon. In this film, he collaborated again with director Kim Yong Hwa, who previously worked on Along With the Gods, which was also played by the actor whose real name is Doh Kyungsoo. D.O's acting in The Moon received praise from the director.
The Moon tells the story of an astronaut named Hwang Sun Woo (played by EXO's D.O.) who is trapped in outer space alone. His team on earth is trying to save him with all their might. Hwang Sun Woo himself became the youngest astronaut in the team traveling to the moon which unfortunately caused him to be stranded.
Two photos of EXO's D.O. as Hwang Sun Woo released by CJENM Movie show two different impressions. In the first photo, his character looks cheerful wearing an astronaut uniform with the South Korean flag on his right arm. D.O looks dashing with the uniform.
But in the second photo the atmosphere changes 180 degrees. D.O's face is full of wounds. This time he was wearing a space expedition suit and looked panicked about something. His body was full of sweat while his astronaut suit looked dirty and dusty from exploration on the moon.
EXO's D.O. acting in The Moon was praised by director Kim Yong Hwa. He said how D.O presents emotion in the character he plays is brilliant. "He shows emotional scenes brilliantly even in conditions of wearing a very heavy space suit in the middle of summer, plus the conditions on the shooting location are not too windy and the air circulation is not good.
That's one thing that deserves applause," commented Kim Yong Hwa quoted from Osen. On the other hand, D.O. talked about how he plays Hwang Sun Woo. For this character, according to him, there are three important keywords in order to be able to convey these brilliant emotions. It is fear, terror, and loneliness.
"He must have felt that while stranded alone in space. So I tried to focus on expressing the fear, terror and loneliness he experienced," closed D.O. The Moon will be released in August 2023 in South Korean cinemas. Apart from EXO's D.O, this film will also be played by Kim Hee Ae and Sol Kyung Gu.
