BTS' Jungkook song " Seven " has just been hit by plagiarism issues over Fin.KL's old song titled "Time of Mask". After being clarified by Big Hit Music as the agency that oversees all the BTS members, the accusation of plagiarism was also denied by South Korean media, Dispatch.

On Thursday August 24, 2023 KST time, Dispatch exclusively provided a report containing evidence to refute the accusations filed by Yang Joon Young, producer of Fin.KL's song "Time of Mask". In its official statement, Dispatch even took special experts from abroad. Dispatch in particular had a phone call with composer Yang on August 22, 2023.

"The key to the songs may be different, but the four-bar scale system between the two songs is the same," said Joon Young. Through the conversation between the two, the producer also explained the similarity of the chorus in "Time of Mask" to the bridge of the song "Seven". However, Dispatch explained the differences in the two songs.

According to Dispatch, "Time of Mask" is in the natural key of E major, while "Seven" is in B minor. Dispatch later changed the original key of both songs to show a better comparison between them. The major South Korean media changed the original key of "Time of Mask" to A minor and "Seven" to C major. In addition to changing the original key, the pitch of each syllable is also compared.

However, there are still no similarities between the two songs. The statement made by Yang Joon Young regarding the similarity of the songs "Time of Mask" and "Seven" was proven untrue. Apart from that, Dispatch also uploaded posts related to the notes for the original song. In the description, it is shown that the notes have sharp and flat stresses at certain different points.

Thus, the original key of the two songs is also different. Song experts from abroad who were recruited by Dispatch also explained a similar statement. The expert said there was no match for the melodies or chords that caused the song "Seven" to be proven plagiarism. "There are only 12 notes in total (including the kress tone).

Therefore, there are countless songs that contain similar tones," he said via a Dispatch report, Thursday August 24, 2023. "There are at least two factors, such as melodies or chords that must match in order to raise suspicions of plagiarism. However, the two songs here are very different. Accusations of plagiarism are nonsense," he said again.
