FNC Entertainment announced surprising news about SF9. One of the members and frontman of the group, Rowoon, decided to leave the group. This news was announced by FNC Entertainment management on Monday September 18, 2023. In a statement, the agency explained the reasons why Rowoon decided to leave SF9.
"Rowoon will focus on individual projects including acting," management said in its official statement. Apart from that, FNC Entertainment also said that Rowoon's departure from SF9 was due to the group's contract extension process. All SF9 members decided to extend their contracts with management.

SF9's contract ends with us September 18, 2023, after promoting as our artists for 7 years since debuting in 2016. All members renewed their contracts with us, only, this group will start a new start with 8 members without Rowoon. Rowoon will focus on individual projects including acting.
All members will give their best to the fans even though they have decided to go in different directions. We ask that you continue to support SF9 and Rowoon. Thank You." Rowoon has been known as the most active SF9 member in Korean dramas.
