Lee Sun Kyun was just declared dead on Wednesday December 27, 2023. The news of the actor's death occurred in the midst of an alleged drug case involving his name. The 48-year-old actor's death was discovered by the Seoul Seongbuk Police Station, which reported that it found an unconscious man in a car parked at Seoul's Waryong Park.
Police suspect that Lee Sun Kyun died by suicide in his own car. "We have investigated the man who died as actor Lee Sun Kyun," said the police as reported by SPOTV December 27, 2023. Initially, the police received a telephone report at 10.12 am local time stating that Lee Sun Kyun's wife, Jeon Hye-jin, received news that her husband had left the house and left a message which was thought to be a will.
Then, at around 10.30 South Korean time, a number of police officers found an unconscious man in a car in Waryong Park. In their discovery, the police found charcoal briquettes located in the passenger seat of Sun-kyun's car. "When he was declared dead, he was not taken to hospital," said a representative from the fire department.
The news of this actor's death occurred in the midst of an investigation into the alleged drug abuse case that dragged Lee Sun Kyun for some time. Previously, Lee Sun Kyun's career reputation was at its peak after playing the role of Mr Park in the film Parasite in 2019. Thanks to this film, Lee Sun Kyun succeeded in becoming a South Korean actor who broke through to Hollywood.
However, his career immediately faded after being involved in a drug case in October 2023. The rise in Lee Sun Kyun's name began when the police discovered the actor's involvement in a drug case that was being distributed at an entertainment venue in Gangnam District, Seoul. His name started to get dragged after the police succeeded in investigating the manager.
It is known that Lee Sun Kyun often visits entertainment venues that are only intended for high-income class groups and celebrities. In fact, this drug case also brought the name of BIGBANG's G-Dragon even though the musician was proven not to be involved in the allegation.
