Singer Dua Lipa has reportedly withdrawn her latest video clip which cost hundreds of thousands of pounds sterling to produce. The singer of the song 'New Rules' did not release it because he considered the video 'insensitive' in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
As reported by Female First, the video clip shows several scenes involving explosions, mass fighting and chaos. Even though the filming was carried out before the incident - which triggered Israel's attack on Gaza, killing more than 20,000 Palestinians - on October 7, 2023, this 28-year-old woman still decided not to release it.
A source who is a music industry insider said the music video was pulled after an 'emergency meeting' with Dua Lipa's team. "A video was recorded for Dua Lipa's latest album campaign last September. Actually, this video is funny but contains themes of chaos - including car crashes, destruction, explosions, fireworks and mass brawls," said the source.
She continued, "Dua Lipa and her team decided it would be insensitive for the video to be made public given what has happened on and since October 7th,". The big-budget music video involves hundreds of extras and was produced to coincide with Dua Lipa's third studio album which is scheduled for release in 2024.
This woman of Albanian descent is one of the celebrities who has been vocal about the conflict and war taking place in Palestine. In a statement posted to Instagram in October 2023, Dua wrote: "Every day, my heart aches for the Israeli and Palestinian people. Grieving for the lives lost in the horrific attacks in Israel."
"Sad as I witness the unprecedented suffering in Gaza, where 2.2 million people, half of them children, endure unimaginable hardships." "For now, I really hope for a ceasefire in Gaza and urge the government to stop the ongoing crisis. Our hope is to find empathy to recognize this terrible humanitarian situation," she concluded.
