The star of the series 13 Reasons Why, Dylan Minnette, recently decided to take a break from acting. This step was taken to pursue his passion for music with his band, Wallows. Wallows is an American indie rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2017.
The band consists of Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston. Dylan himself took the position as vocalist and guitarist. In a recent interview, Dylan Minnette shared his reasons for choosing to focus on music and answered whether there is a chance of him returning as an actor in the future.
" I was lucky to be able to achieve success in the world of acting. I played in the very popular 13 Reasons Why and that was really the peak of my acting career ," said Dylan Minnette on the Zach Sang Show, quoted on Monday May 27, 2024.
" However, I started to feel like it was just another job. Even though I was in a very lucky position and always enjoyed and felt inspired, slowly it started to feel like just work, " he continued. Bands and music are one of his passions. As a group, they have dreams of developing and taking their band as far as possible.
" With the position I have now, I feel I can focus completely for a while and push this as much as possible ," said the actor born in 1996. " The only way to make it happen is to put in all my time and energy 100%, take it very seriously, and show the world that we are all serious about this, " he said further.
By taking a break from acting, Dylan felt increasingly inspired and found artistic and creative satisfaction in other areas. Dylan believes that someday when he has finished working with Wallows and they agree to take a break, it will be the right time for him to return to acting.
Dylan Minnette himself has starred in dozens of films and television series. One of them is as Clay Jensen in the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why . In addition, he also appears in the 2022 film Scream , as well as the Hulu mini-series The Dropout.
