HBO is currently developing Crazy Rich Asians into a series directed by Jon M. Chu and adapted from the novel by Kevin Kwan published in 2013. In an interview with Variety, the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, Casey Bloys, confirmed that the Crazy Rich Asians series is entering the development stage.
" There are several other projects such as The Conjuring, which is a big film series that we are developing into a TV series, and also Crazy Rich Asians. We are also developing the DC property, Green Lantern, into a TV series ," read Casey Bloys' official statement as quoted on Wednesday June 12, 2024.
Released in 2018, the film Crazy Rich Asians became a huge success both in terms of ratings and box office. The film managed to collect $239 million, making it the biggest romantic comedy of the decade. The story follows the story of an American professor named Rachel Chu (Constance Wu).
Rachel goes to Singapore with her boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding) to attend a wedding. While in Singapore, Rachel was surprised to learn that Nick's family was one of the richest families in the country.
