BLACKPINK's Jennie recently sparked controversy after being seen smoking a vape indoors. Jennie's actions were caught on camera in her vlog on the official YouTube channel 'Jennierubyjane Official' which was uploaded on July 2, 2024.

In the video titled 'A Moment in Capri with Jennie', the idol tells the story of her trip to Capri for an official event with French luxury brand, Jacquemus. The video garnered huge interest from K-pop fans, especially BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fandom), who admired the idol's professionalism and work ethic despite her lack of sleep.

However, Jennie's vlog clip went viral when it was shared by a netizen, where she was being made up and styled by the staff. At that time, smoke was seen coming out of Jennie's mouth so that netizens claimed that the idol was smoking in the room when many staff were in it.

The accusations were further strengthened after Jennie was seen holding a device similar to a vape cigarette before smoke came out of her lips. The clip went viral on social media X (formerly Twitter), but the original vlog has since been deleted.

Netizens highlighted Jennie's actions, where smoking indoors is an impolite act, especially since she blew her smoke near the staff's faces. In South Korea, smoking indoors is a serious offense, whether it is a regular cigarette or an e-cigarette or vape.

Although some netizens justified Jennie's actions on the grounds that Jennie was not in Korea, locals explained that in Capri, smoking in closed spaces is also prohibited. As the debate heated up, fans asked netizens to make malicious comments about Jennie. According to them, if you look closely, the device the idol is holding also resembles a diffuser.

It is no secret that due to her busy schedule, Jennie has health problems so she uses a diffuser to overcome her respiratory problems which also contains vitamins and other ingredients that are beneficial for her health. Meanwhile, until now, Jennie's label, ODD ATELIER, has not given an official statement regarding the matter.
