Officially making a comeback with the single ' ROCKSTAR ', BLACKPINK's Lisa is once again facing accusations of plagiarism . This time, a videographer accused her of plagiarizing several scenes in the ' ROCKSTAR ' MV.
The videographer is Gabriel Moses, the man behind Travis Scott's 'FE!N' MV. Gabriel uploaded several Instagram Stories related to BLACKPINK's Lisa. Specifically, the videographer uploaded a screenshot of an email he received, which accused Lisa of copying scenes from the 'FE!N' MV to include in the 'Rockstar' MV.
He also added the caption, “ I love all my snitches so much ”, indicating that he believes the allegations are true. In addition, Gabriel also published another story with the caption, “ Giving time until the end of the month ”, implying that he will wait for Lisa’s side to contact him or respond to this.
Meanwhile, Although there is a scene from Lisa's 'Rockstar' MV that is accused of having similarities with Travis Scott's 'FE!N' MV, many netizens believe that the shooting has a common set-up , because similar shots have appeared in various other videos, so it is unreasonable to call it plagiarism.
Previously, Lisa had also received accusations of plagiarism regarding the outfit she wore in the MV 'ROCKSTAR'. A Chinese designer named Jewel Y claims that Lisa plagiarized one of her designs from 2020. The outfit was a star-shaped leather halter top. Although many accusations have been directed at the Thai idol, so far Lisa's side has not spoken out.
Meanwhile, the single 'ROCKSTAR' was released on June 28, 2024 and is Lisa's first release after establishing her own label, LLOUD. The song showcases Lisa's rapping skills combined with energetic pop vocals. In addition, Lisa participated in writing it, making this comeback feel special, both for the idol and the fans.
The MV for 'ROCKSTAR' was shot in Bangkok, Thailand, and showcases the culture of Thailand, which is Lisa's hometown. Despite being tinged with controversy, Lisa's comeback received high appreciation from fans because the idol tried to break the image that had been attached to her and dared to be different.
