This Chinese influencer went viral for sad news. She died after claiming she couldn't afford to pay her rent and hadn't eaten for two days. She death of the influencer popular with the account name Mao Youyou saddened her fans in China. Mao Youyou was an anime cosplayer with more than 51 thousand followers on Chinese social media. 

Mao Youyou, whose real name is Shi Ye, previously revealed to her fans that she was on the verge of death. Unexpectedly, a few days later, her family announced via social media that Shi Ye had passed away on February 25, 2025. The family decided to keep Mao Youyou's social media accounts active. 

"We know that there are still many people who love her. So we will not remove her phone number or close her social media accounts. Instead, we will keep them there so that we can all express how much we miss her," Mao Youyou's family said in a statement. Before she died, Mao Youyou did a live broadcast as his favorite anime character. 

She admitted that her mental condition was bad. The 24-year-old influencer was 'lying down,' a term in China that describes someone who only does the bare minimum to survive and does not want to do anything. "I just feel comfortable lying in bed and doing nothing," she said on live broadcast. 

Mao Youyou has been living in a rented apartment in Beijing for three years. But in recent months, she has struggled to pay her rent. Mao Youyou said she had not eaten for two days. She also had no appetite. She had tried to seek treatment, but unfortunately was unable to get an appointment at the hospital. 

Hours before her death, Mao Youyou had posted on social media that indicated she planned to end her life. "We will never meet again," she wrote. Mao Youyou's family did not reveal the exact cause of the influencer's death. Mao Youyou's death left sorrow for her fans, especially anime cosplayers.
