The court has sentenced BTS' Suga to a fine of 15 million won following a case of driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. As reported by Yonhap news agency on Monday September 30, 2024, a legal source revealed that the Seoul Western District Court had imposed the fine on Friday September 27, 2024 or exactly as requested by the public prosecutor.

Through the summary of the indictment, the prosecutor asked the court to impose a fine or confiscation in an expedited process without involving a full trial. At the verdict hearing, the panel of judges then imposed a fine in accordance with the prosecutor's indictment.

On the other hand, the musician whose full name is Min Yoon-gi can appeal the sentence received by filing a full court within seven days of the court's decision. The case of BTS's Suga began when police officers found the BTS rapper falling from an electric scooter on August 6, 2024 at 23:27 local time in an area close to his residence in Hannam, Yongsan district.

The police immediately carried out an initial check after smelling alcohol from the musician's body before revoking his driving license. However, Suga was immediately allowed to go home after undergoing a series of investigations.

Exactly one day after the incident occurred, Suga immediately released a statement admitting that he had drunk alcohol before riding the electric scooter, but claimed that he was not aware of the violation of the law. "I rode an electric scooter home last night after drinking after dinner.

I thought it was a short distance and I didn't realize that I can't ride an electric scooter after drinking," BTS's Suga revealed via Weverse. "I apologize to those who were disappointed by my irresponsible and wrong actions," continued Suga. "I will be more careful with my actions to avoid something similar happening in the future."

Since then, prosecutors have charged him with driving under the influence (DUI). On the other hand, drunk driving is a serious crime in South Korea because it can potentially threaten the lives of others, following the increasing number of accidents over the past few years.
