SHINee's Key just made a comeback through the album "Pleasure Shop" with the b-side "Overthink" on September 23, 2024 at 6 PM KST. "Overthink" is a song with repetitive synth arpeggios and a rhythmic kick. The catchy melody combined with Key's characteristic vocals is expected to be something that fans will like.

While the tune is similar to an addictive mantra. Then the lyrics are packaged humorously which tells about stopping thoughts that keep popping into the mind. This song describes someone who is easily disturbed, causing him to overthink.

As in the opening of the song, Key asks someone to turn off the white light in the tight hood, where he is hiding. This describes a person's discomfort when overthinking , where he feels like he is wrapped in a narrow place full of light.

Although it has the title "Overthink", but this song seems very futuristic and different from most other Key songs. This song shows off Key's metallic voice combined with addictive tones in the chorus and also super cool dance with artistic synchronization. When first listening to it, this song seems too enthusiastic, even though the title is "Overthink".

However, Key seems to want to invite his listeners to dispel unnecessary thoughts by having fun through this song. In the next section he mentions, something wrong can happen, a feeling of loss because of a failed dream or someone who is no longer by your side.

So that hopes and illusions are also damaged. All these uncomfortable feelings do trigger excessive thinking. Overthinking can also occur because someone does not find answers to their questions and curiosity. But Key reminds us not to do that. Because people who overthink are like trapped.

So through her choreography, she does hand movements like expelling thoughts from her head. This part looks very beautiful and fits the lyrics. This song has its own magnetism. So just like the lyrics that invite someone to grow up, "Overthing" also shows the growth of this 1991-born idol as a solo artist who is increasingly mature.

When listening to this song, Key seems to really invite his listeners to stop thinking hard and overthinking. Live a more relaxed life and let's grow together to be more mature. Sometimes things do go wrong. But overthinking will only make you uncomfortable like being trapped in a maze.
