Former member of K-Pop group T-ARA, Jiyeon, divorced baseball athlete Hwang Jae Gyun after two years of marriage. The divorce news was announced by Jiyeon herself through her management.
As reported by The Korea Times, Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun have filed for divorce mediation to end their marriage, on Saturday October 5, 2024. In a written statement released by her attorney, Jiyeon stated that the two divorced by mutual agreement, after failing to resolve domestic disputes.
The couple, who married in December 2022, decided to divorce after living apart due to unresolved disputes. Their divorce papers have been filed with the Family Court since last month. Rumors and allegations of Jiyeon's divorce had been around for several weeks.
Speculations of divorce came from a baseball commentator, who mentioned it while covering one of Hwang Jae Gyun's games. Jiyeon and Hwang had denied the divorce rumors. Three months ago, they even said that the gossip spread by the media was baseless.
