Ahn Hyo Seop is rumored to be a prostitute in the latest Korean drama Le Paradis Noir. Now, many Korean netizens are protesting and consider Ahn Hyo Seop's character disappointing. What is it like?

According to an exclusive report by Star News on Thursday October 31, 2024, Ahn Hyo Seop was confirmed to star in the Korean drama Le Paradis Noir. The drama is adapted from a mystery novel released two years ago.

Interestingly, Le Paradis Noir was directed by director Yoon Jong Ho, who was behind the success of the Korean drama Lovely Runner. The storyline follows the original novel Le Paradis Noir about a conglomerate child born out of wedlock and becoming a 'mainstay' male companion at a Gangnam karaoke bar.

The character will be played by the main actor, Ahn Hyo Seop. Ahn Hyo Seop's character in the Korean drama Le Paradis Noir is named Cheon Guk. He used to work at a funeral home. His stepmother ran away with the insurance money she got after his biological father died.

Cheon Guk ends up working as an escort at a karaoke bar in Gangnam, Seoul. There, Ahn Hyo Seop's character reunites with a woman named Yoon Ji On who is mourning the loss of her mother from her old job. The woman, who is 12 years his senior, is now his customer.

One day, Cheon Guk decides to return the heirlooms of Yoon Ji On's late mother. However, on the same night, a murder case occurs that makes Cheon Guk accused of being the perpetrator. Yoon Ji On does not want to be in the spotlight and looks for a way to prove Cheon Guk's innocence, instead of confirming his alibi.

Now Korean netizens are busy discussing Ahn Hyo Seop's character who is depicted as a prostitute. Not a few are worried and consider the depiction of the character to be outdated. "Please stop bringing prostitution into Korean dramas.

This is really disgusting," commented a netizen on a Korean community forum. "The premise is very outdated... it's true," wrote one netizen. "Calling him an escort makes it sound better than it actually is. This is prostitution. No need to be dramatic," said one netizen.

"Are we living in 2004 now?" chimed in another netizen who was disappointed with the storyline of Ahn Hyo Seop's latest Korean drama, Le Paradis Noir. Following criticisms about Ahn Hyo Seop's appearance as a male prostitute, the director of Le Paradis Noir said, "Nothing is confirmed yet."
