BLACKPINK's Rosé and Bruno Mars' performance at the 2024 MAMA Awards was criticized by Japanese audiences. The reason was that they did not sing live when performing the song APT. The 2024 MAMA Awards marked Rosé and Bruno Mars' first stage performance of APT. after its release.
Amidst the criticism, the song continues to set records on streaming platforms. APT. officially made Rosé the solo female K-Pop artist with the fastest MV to reach 400 million views on YouTube with a record of 35 days and 14 hours.
This number was achieved by APT.'s MV on November 23, 2024. Viewed on Sunday November 24, 2024, the MV APT. has been watched 412,908,061 times on Google's platform. This song shows no signs of stopping making achievements anytime soon, it seems.
Previously, APT. had already set records such as the first MV in 2024 that was watched the fastest to 300 million times. It also became the 6th fastest MV to get 300 million views in YouTube history.
Both records were broken by Rosé in early November 2024. On the Billboard chart, the song APT. also made an achievement for Rosé who officially became the first K-Pop artist to set a record by staying for 2 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Rosé also became the first K-Pop soloist to debut at #4 on the UK Official Charts, the highest position in the history of a K-Pop song entering the chart. On the Melon chart in South Korea, APT. is still at #1 to this day.
Thanks to that song, Yoon Soo Il's single titled Apartment, released in 1982, was also pushed back into the chart. Apartment was once number one on KBS's Gayo Top 10, one of the most influential music charts at the time. The song was recorded to have held the #1 position for five consecutive weeks.
Seeing his song rise again and being listened to by the younger generation, Yoon Soo Il felt grateful to Rosé and Bruno Mars. In an interview with Yonhap, reported by The Korea Times on Tuesday November 5, 2024, he said the song APT. has reconstructed his song.
