ZEROBASEONE's Sung Hanbin has sparked debate among netizens because of his English skills. Initially, a netizen wrote on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing the idol born in 2001. The netizen wrote, "Hanbin? If you're going to be like this, why do you have to use English?"

The netizen included several typos that Hanbin made when greeting fans on the Dear. U Bubble app. For example, Hanbin was supposed to write excited, but the typo became, " exited ". The idol also misspelled the brand Calvin Klein. There were also posts where Hanbin misspelled, "protein" and "tension".

The netizen's critical post for Hanbin has been read 461 thousand times since it was posted on November 5, 2024. Although English is not Hanbin's first language and mistakes are inevitable, some have highlighted how the idol actually didn't need to use English in the situation.

" It's funny how they gaslight fans with her image as the student council president, a model student when she's like this[sic!] ," one netizen wrote. " Well, she shouldn't have to be like that[sic!] ," another added. However, many also defended Hanbin by saying that fans should appreciate the idol's efforts in trying to use English to get closer to them.

Even though, Hanbin ended up making a typo. " I appreciate the effort she put into communicating with fans in a language other than Korean. It's normal to make mistakes while learning, and the message still gets across.

Stop criticizing others[sic!] ," another netizen said. Meanwhile, ZEROBASEONE is currently busy with the "2024 ZEROBASEONE THE FIRST TOUR" concert tour series. The group recently held a concert in Jakarta. ZEROBASEONE is also confirmed to appear at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
