Scriptwriter Kang Full recently had an interview with local media regarding his recently completed work, "Light Shop". One of the things Kang Full discussed was the facts behind Park Jung Min's appearance as the character Kim Young Tak.
The character appeared in the ending of "Light Shop" and interacted with detective Yang Sung Sik (Bae Sung Woo). Young Tak actually also appeared in the series "Moving", but was never shown. Now, Young Tak is played by Jung Min.
In his interview, Kang Full revealed the casting process for Jung Min. "I actually cast Park Jung Min three years ago. The reason I cast him was because I thought he should show his back finger tap when he did 'Moving'," he continued.
"At that time, I asked an acquaintance to introduce me to Park Jung Min, so we ate together. When we met, I told him that I would write and produce 'Moving'. I also wanted Jung Min to play an important role in a webtoon called 'Timing'. He said he knew the webtoon," said Jung Min.
Kang Full shared that he actually wanted Jung Min to also make a brief appearance in "Moving". "That's why I wanted Park Jung Min to make a brief appearance starting from 'Moving'. However, because of the production situation, I didn't know how long it would last, so I used a different actor just for the back part," said Jung Min.
While working on "Light Shop," Kang Full contacted Jung Min. "There is a part in 'Light Shop' that connects to the backstory of 'Moving,' so I contacted Jung Min at the beginning of filming and told him, 'The time has come,'" he added.
Kang Full also shared the script he prepared specifically for Jung Min in the ending of "Light Shop". "I wrote exactly one page for the part where Jung Min appears and sent it. We filmed it all in one day," said Kang Full.
In addition, Kang Full also said, "When I started 'Light Shop,' I didn't think at all about the synchronization between the original comic and the actors. But strangely enough, Jung Min resembles Young Tak. They have big noses and similar appearances." Kang Full then revealed what he liked about Young Tak's character.
"What I like about Young Tak is that he is 'a man who does things he doesn't want to do'. He is kind, but he says, 'I don't want to do it, but I'll try to do it'," he explained. According to Kang Full, Young Tak is someone who does things reluctantly, but works hard.
"Jung Min is a very good actor, and in terms of the power of time, he is not someone who thinks, 'What are you going to do!' but someone who thinks, 'If not me, who can do it?' That's why I didn't think of anyone else but Park Jung Min. It's been three years," concluded the scriptwriter.
