Former MYTEEN member Kim Kook Heon appeared on the first episode of ENA's program "Chef Paik & Les Miserables" on November 30. On that occasion, the man honestly shared his past struggles and current situation, which deeply touched viewers. Kook Heon introduces himself as a former failed idol.
At the age of 28, he claims to be unemployed. Kook Heon brings a mix of laughter and sadness when speaking on "Chef Paik & Les Miserables". Kook Heon debuted in 2017 with the boy group MYTEEN. However, the group failed to gain significant attention and disbanded after a while.
In 2019, he appeared on Mnet's survival audition program "Produce X 101" with high hopes of starting a new career. Along with fellow MYTEEN member Song Yu Vin, Kook Heon impressed K-Pop fans with his stunning visuals, strong physique, and impressive skills, keeping him in high rankings throughout “Produce X 101.”
However, despite widespread expectations that Kook Heon would advance to the finals, the male was unexpectedly eliminated during the third ranking announcement. After some time passed, Kook Heon was revealed to be a victim of “Produce X 101” vote manipulation in November 2020.
In "Chef Paik & Les Miserables," Kook Heon revealed that he suffered severe psychological stress and contemplated suicide. "There was a time when I opened the car door on the highway, ready to jump. It was such a painful memory that I really wanted to end it all," he said.
During this difficult time, Kook Heon found inspiration in an advertisement featuring chef Baek Jong Won , who talked about resetting one's life. The message rekindled Kim's passion, leading him to participate in "Chef Paik & Les Miserables," a program that sees 20 contestants go on cooking missions under the guidance of chef Jong Won.
Kook Heon explained that the concept of reorganizing his life motivated him to join “Chef Paik & Les Miserables,” which marks a new chapter in his journey. Many are expecting Kook Heon to get the best results on the show. Meanwhile, Kook Heon and Yuvin formed a unit group called BOY and did various activities together after MYTEEN disbanded.
In 2021, Kook Heon competed on TV Chosun's "National Singer" but failed to make it past the preliminary round. Duo BOY also tried their hand at YouTube content, running a channel called "Give You an Empty House, Take My House" to explore new creative opportunities.
