Ji Jin Hee was a guest star on the YouTube program "Zzan Bro" hosted by Shin Dong Yeop on February 10, 2025. The actor revealed a funny story about how he thought he was his parents' adopted child. Jin Hee first revealed a major misunderstanding that started with a blood type test.
"I have a funny story to share. When you start middle school, one of the first things you do is take a blood type test, right? My result was blood type A," the actor said. Jin Hee then asked her parents about their blood types. "I went home and asked my parents about their blood types.
My mother said B, and my father said O, that combination can't produce a child with blood type A," she added. That was the beginning of her thinking about being an adopted child. "That means I'm not their biological child. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. I mean, I'm an only child.
It just suddenly occurred to me that my parents wanted a child but couldn't have one, so they adopted me," she said. Jin Hee then struggled with whether or not to tell her parents about her knowledge. "That's when I started to think: Should I tell my parents who raised me that I know the truth?
Should I find out the whole truth about my origins? Should I look for my birth parents?"he said. Jin Hee even thought about when she might have been adopted. "When I was looking through my family photo albums to find out when the adoption happened, I found a photo of my first birthday," he recalled.
"I thought, 'My parents have planned everything so carefully!', so sure that I'm not their biological child," said the actor, making everyone around him burst out laughing. However, Jin Hee decided to keep quiet about her knowledge. "After much thought, I thought that those who abandoned me were not my parents.
I decided not to look for my biological parents, thinking that I should consider the people who raised me as my biological parents and move on with my life," he said. Jin Hee felt certain that he was adopted until he underwent another blood type test when he enlisted in the military.
The actor was immediately shocked because it turned out that his blood type was B, the same as his mother. "I got the test results, it said my blood type was B. I was like, 'Wait, what? Can blood types change?!'" he said.
The test results immediately dispelled a long-standing misconception. "Growing up, I used to look at my parents and think, 'They said you'll start to look like the people you live with. I can see that. It's amazing how similar we look now," Jin Hee said, making the studio burst out laughing again.
