New news has come from the sexual crime case accused of Taeil, a former NCT member. According to legal sources on March 4, 2025, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's Division 1 of the Juvenile and Women's Crime Investigation Division has officially indicted Moon Taeil and 2 others.

The charges were formally filed on February 28, 2025 under the Law on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. They are accused of assaulting a drunk woman in June last year. Previously, it was reported that the police had filed a special rape charge.

After that, speculation arose about the use of a weapon during Taeil's sexual crime. However, authorities confirmed that no weapon was involved. Under the law, this special rape charge applies when a crime is committed by two or more people against an unconscious or helpless victim or if a weapon is used in the process.

The Seoul Bangbae Police Station, which received the victim's report in June 2024, filed an arrest warrant for the three suspects. However, the court rejected the request, arguing that the suspects had confessed to the crime and did not require detention.

Police then summoned Taeil for questioning in August 2024, two months after the initial report. The police then handed over the case to prosecutors in September 2024. The suspects denied any evil plot, with the other two accomplices complying with the prosecutor's investigation.

Meanwhile, Taeil refused to appear, citing health issues. Instead, he submitted a doctor's certificate along with a statement from his lawyer. As the case proceeds to court, the public remains focused on the legal outcome and potential consequences for Taeil and the other defendants.

At the same time, discussions continue about accountability and fairness in the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, in August 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Taeil was removed from NCT due to sexual crimes. "We recently confirmed that Taeil has been involved in a criminal case related to sexual crimes," SM Entertainment said.

"When we looked at the situation, we realized that this was a very serious matter, and we have decided that Taeil can no longer continue with team activities. We have discussed this matter with Taeil and it has been decided that he will be removed from the group," SM Entertainment added. In October 2024, the agency officially terminated Taeil's contract.
