Jinyoung recently had an interview with local media regarding his acting in the film "You Are the Apple of My Eye". Interestingly, the B1A4 member also shared details about his own first love experience. "You Are the Apple of My Eye" is adapted from a popular Taiwanese film.
The film follows the story of Jin Woo (Jinyoung), an immature teenager who spends days before finally confessing his feelings to his crush Sun Ah ( TWICE's Dahyun). In his interview, Jinyoung was asked if filming his teenage love story brought back memories of his own first love.
The idol actor then shared his first love experience that happened during his school days. "If we talk about first love, I had one in sixth grade and another in my first year of high school. People usually say 'Come on' when you mention first love in sixth grade," he said. "However, I really think that was my true first love.
The feelings were very strong, and I have a lot of memories from that time. Looking back, I have a lot in common with Jin Woo," Jinyoung continued. Jinyoung shared that his first love was a transfer student. "She was a transfer student from Seoul, and I fell in love with her at first sight.
I really wanted to be close friends with her, but whenever I was in front of her, I couldn't speak," he said. "Somehow, we got to know each other on Buddy Buddy (a Korean messaging service), and online, we chatted like best friends.
I would say, 'See you tomorrow,' but when we actually met the next day, I couldn't even say hello," he recalled. Luckily, Jinyoung managed to date his first love. "Then I would go home and talk to her again easily. I even asked her out through text messages.
But even after we started dating, I still couldn't greet her properly," he said. However, their relationship ended without any clear certainty. "Eventually, a friend got tired of seeing us and suggested the three of us eat pork cutlets together.
But what's funnier is that I couldn't even tell her that I wanted to break up. We slowly drifted apart. We never even went on a proper date. That dinner with our friend was the end of it all," Jinyoung recalled. Jinyoung ended his story with a deep reflection on his character.
"At first, I didn't understand why Jin Woo acted like that. I thought, 'If you like him, just tell him!' However, when I think back to my youth, I can really relate to him, and that makes me empathize with his character more," he concluded.
