BLACKPINK's Jennie was recently invited to be a guest star on the program "The Jennifer Hudson Show" which will air on March 10, 2025. There, the 1996-born idol emphasized that she is still focused on her music career, rather than acting. On March 2, 2025, Jennifer uploaded a clip of Jennie’s interview on the show.
The idol initially shared details about her upcoming solo album. In the short clip, Jennie revealed that she wants to focus on her music career for now. When Jennifer asked, “Can we expect to see your acting again in the near future?” Jennie replied, “Of course, but I want to focus on my album right now.”
Jennie admitted that she didn't have time to think about other projects while preparing for her solo album. She explained, "I really like watching movies, and every time I watch a new movie, I'll be inspired by the characters in the movie and I always think about what it would be like if I played that character."
"I thought about it a lot, but honestly, for the past year and a half, I was so focused on the inspiration for this album that I didn't have any brain energy left to think about which character I wanted to play," Jennie said. Jennie also gave a sneak peek into the choreography of one of the dance songs from her album.
The idol delved into the production process and revealed that she participated heavily. Jennie said, "If the songs aren't written by me, like the whole song, I work with a songwriter that I'm close with." "They are all my friends, so they understand me.
They heard my story and they were inspired by my story, and that's how this album came about," Jennie said. On the other hand, Jennie has also slowly started releasing some of her comeback songs. The idol had presented "Love Hangover" ft. Dominic Fike which debuted at No. 96 on the Hot 100, making it the highest debut solo single so far.
"Love Hangover" is Jennie's third solo entry on the Hot 100, following her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp "One of the Girls" (which debuted at No. 100) and previous single "Mantra" (which entered the chart at No. 98).
