On Friday May 23, 2025, Walt Disney Company Korea announced a series of the latest Korean dramas that will soon air on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform in the second half of 2025. One of them is the Korean drama 'The Manipulated' which features Ji Chang Wook and Kpop group EXO member, D.O aka Do Kyung Soo.
So far, Ji Chang Wook has been a regular star in Disney+ Hotstar Korean dramas in the crime-action genre. Namely The Worst of Evil, Gangnam B-Side, and most recently 'The Manipulated'. Meanwhile, EXO's D.O. is starring in a project made by a similar streaming platform, even just entering the 'villain era' for the first time.
The Korean drama The Manipulated tells the story of an ordinary man, Tae Joong (played by Ji Chang Wook) who is imprisoned after being accused of being a murderer. Tae Joong's revenge plan begins when he realizes that he has been framed by Yo Han (played by EXO's D.O).
The Manipulated script was written by Oh Sang Ho, who was behind the success of the Korean drama Taxi Driver and the film The Roundup: Punishment or The Outlaws 4. Ji Chang Wook transforms into Tae Joong, a man who lives a peaceful life without any problems.
He finds his life turned upside down after being framed for a heinous murder case. While digging up the truth behind the structured murder case, Tae Joong begins to formulate a revenge plan to face Yo Han (played by EXO's D.O) who holds the reins. Yo Han is known to be cold and calculating.
In addition to Ji Chang Wook and EXO's D.O., actor Lee Kwang Soo and actress Jo Yoon Soo have joined the cast. Lee Kwang Soo's character adds to the suspense of the Korean drama The Manipulated storyline as Baek Do Kyung. He is a key figure in uncovering the mystery of the murder case.
Newcomer actress Jo Yoon Soo plays Noh Eun Bi, who helps Tae Joong in his quest for revenge. In the event titled "Disney+ Open House," the production team of the Korean drama The Manipulated showed a portrait of Ji Chang Wook's transformation as Tae Joong.
His character is behind bars wearing a blue prison uniform, and looks around with a confused face. Meanwhile, the still cuts of EXO's D.O in the Korean drama The Manipulated show a confident expression and a sly smile, which adds to the mysterious impression.
This is the first time EXO's D.O has accepted a villain role during his career as an actor. He wears a dark blue suit and a black turtleneck. Korean drama fans can look forward to The Manipulated airing in the second half of 2025 only on Disney+ Hotstar.
