The Boyz's Hyunjae experienced a K-Pop idol's nightmare during a comeback: an injury during the promotion of their latest album. As reported by Soompi on August 1, 2025, Hyunjae suffered a ligament injury to his ankle on July 31, 2025, just three days after the group's  comeback.

This was announced by The Boyz's agency , on the same day the injury occurred. "Today, The Boyz member Hyunjae injured his ankle during a live broadcast and was immediately taken to the hospital. 

After undergoing an examination, he was diagnosed with a partial torn ligament," an agency representative said. It added, " Hyunjae suffered the injury during a live broadcast that night. 

After receiving treatment at the hospital, he was diagnosed with a partial ligament rupture that requires medical attention." Due to this injury, Hyunjae has had to adjust his activities. 

However, he is confirmed to still participate in group activities, including performing on Music Bank. "As per the doctor's advice, Hyunjae will remain seated while participating in the performance on KBS2's "Music Bank" scheduled for tomorrow (August 1, 2025)," the agency said. 

The agency further apologized for the incident, which occurred during a highly anticipated time for fans. "We sincerely apologize to the fans who have been eagerly awaiting The Boyz's first comeback performance ." 

The agency also stated that it would make adjustments to Hyunjae's future activities. However, it stated that this would prioritize the idol 's health and recovery process. "We will do our best to ensure his speedy recovery. 

We ask that you continue to send your warm love and support to THE BOYZ," the agency concluded. The Boyz made a comeback on July 28th with the release of their 10th mini-album, a;effect. They also released the music video for their title track , "Stylish." 

This minimalist hip-hop-influenced pop song embodies THE BOYZ's free and honest style. It also conveys their commitment to finding their own path despite their seemingly unexpected style choices.
