Byeon Woo Seok was announced as the lead role of Sung Jin Woo in the Korean drama series adapted from the popular web novel Solo Leveling. The announcement was met with a positive reaction from fans of both the actor and the story, who have long been anticipating the release of the live-action version.

However, according to a recent report from OSEN, the actor may not be getting paid as much as previously thought, as the giant studio Netflix has reportedly implemented stricter restrictions on the payments given to its talents.

According to reports, the OTT platform has engaged its team to lower the salaries given to Korean actors for their projects, both scripted and unscripted, including limited series and films. Previously believed to be much higher, it has now been capped at around 400 million KRW to 300 million KRW per episode.

While that figure isn't low enough to be considered a low salary, the expected pay for the role of Byeon Woo Seok is much higher. Lee Jung Jae's appearance fee on Squid Game was reported to be US$220,000-290,000 and was charged US$245,000 for the first season of the hit show.

However, after reports of his vitality, it was reported that the actor was demanding a paycheck of US$1 million per episode, aiming for a much larger check. The amount was never confirmed by the studio or the actor himself, but the estimate shocked fans.

In response to Byeon Woo Seok's possible pay for the project, a source familiar with the situation has reportedly stated that it would be difficult for him to earn more than 300 million KRW due to the concerning policy. A spokesperson from an OTT platform commented on these significant restrictions, saying.

"Appearance fees aren't based solely on the number of episodes, but rather reflect the actual time and contributions of the creators and cast. Netflix doesn't impose a uniform cap. Instead, fees are flexibly negotiated with partners, taking into account the nature of the project, the roles, and the production period."
