South Korean actor Lee Byung Hun recently appeared as a guest on a show on the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun. In the video, uploaded on Saturday (September 20, 2025), Lee Byung Hun answered questions about pet ownership.

Lee Byung Hun admitted that he currently doesn't own any pets. He then made a surprising revelation that he and his mother once kept 27 dogs at home. "Before I got married, when I lived with my mother, we kept about 27 dogs," said Lee Byung Hun, quoted Monday September 22, 2025.

He then revealed the difficulties he had to face when caring for 27 dogs, where half of Lee Byung Hun's pet dog population at that time were large dogs. "Most of them are medium to large in size, including their children, there are 27 in total.

Feeding them is a big task, but cleaning up their waste is even harder," said Lee Byung Hun. Having difficulty with the large number of pets, Lee Byung Hun and his mother finally decided to give most of their dogs to be adopted by others, leaving four dogs.

"Over time, I realized that this was too difficult, so I asked people around me if they wanted to adopt dogs and I started putting them all up for adoption. I still have four dogs now," said Lee Byung Hun. T

his surprising fact about Lee Byung Hun sparked heated discussion among netizens. Many criticized Lee Byung Hun for allegedly committing animal cruelty. " Is he an animal hoarder? " commented one Knetz.

" Does he take in and care for abandoned dogs without any responsibility and then give them all to other people? Isn't it worrying to see how casual he is about it, " said another Knetz. " Isn't this animal cruelty? " added another Knetz.

Even though on the same occasion Lee Byung Hun had clarified that he still fed the 27 dogs he had kept, Knetz still criticized him because he considered the actor to have ignored the animals' safety.
