Another survival-show idol group has entered the K-pop lineage of Mnet. Following in the footsteps of Wanna One (2017), X1 (2019) and ZeroBaseOne (ZB1) (2023), the latest team is an eight-member act—ALPHA DRIVE ONE (ALD1).

During the live finale of Boys II Planet on Thursday September 25, 2025, the final rankings were revealed and the group name was confirmed. Producers explained that “ALPHA DRIVE ONE” embodies the “catharsis created by K-pop’s relentless momentum.”

Final rankings saw Lee Sang Won take first place with 7.29 million points, followed by Zhou An Xin (5.95 million), He Xin Long (5.73 million), Kim Geon Woo (4.85 million), Zhang Jia Hao (4.23 million), Lee Leo (4.14 million), Chung Sang Hyeon (3.86 million) and Kim Jun Seo (3.85 million).

Crowning the top spot, Lee Sang Won admitted he was surprised. “Honestly, I thought An Xin would win first place. From today, I’ll treasure all of you even more than myself. I’m so happy and grateful,” he said onstage. “I’ll do my best to be the proud ALPHA DRIVE ONE member and your No. 1 forever.”

Lee’s win comes after a rocky road: formerly a Big Hit trainee, he had been set to debut in Trainee A before the project was canceled, briefly giving up on his idol dream. But at the urging of fellow trainee Lee Leo, he joined Boys II Planet—and now both will debut together, with Lee Leo finishing in sixth place.

The outcome also drew comparisons to the first season two years ago, where Sung Han Bin held first place throughout, only to be overtaken in the finale by Zhang Hao, who became the first non-Korean to win a survival show.

This time, however, the No. 1 spot went to a Korean trainee. Fans will have to wait a little longer to see the new group hit the stage. Although ALPHA DRIVE ONE has been finalized, industry sources confirm the group’s official debut is scheduled for early 2026, not this year.
