Streaming platform TVING recently issued an apology following plagiarism allegations regarding the promotional poster for their latest drama, 'Dear X'. The drama 'Dear X' itself is scheduled to premiere on November 6, 2025.

The poster features the English title 'Dear X' written in bold red letters on white paper, with the piercing gaze of the main character, Baek Ah Jin (played by Kim Yoo Jung), peeking through the torn paper.

However, shortly after its release, the poster sparked controversy on social media and online communities. Many noted its similarity to a promotional image for the 2017 Chinese film, 'The Devotion of Suspect X,' which was adapted from Keigo Higashino's novel of the same name.

On September 9, 2025, a representative from the production team of "Dear X" issued an official statement regarding the issue. "We belatedly realized the similarity to a specific reference and immediately stopped using the poster. We have also decided not to use it again in the future," they said.

They continued, "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by our failure to thoroughly review the production process. We will strengthen our review procedures to ensure incidents like this do not recur."
