Several days after the death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, his mother released a statement regarding the sad news. The statement was released through Yu Menglong's agency to clarify the news and prevent further rumors.
"I feel sad and heartbroken after the death of my beloved child who fell after consuming alcohol," the mother wrote in her statement, as reported by CNA. He also stated that the police had completed the investigation and funeral arrangements were complete.
She also asked the public not to spread further rumors. "I also hope to return to my peaceful life and reminisce with Menglong. I will strive to live each day well. I think this is Menglong's hope as well," she said.
"Finally, I hope he rests in peace in heaven. Once again, thank you all for your concern and support," the mother concluded. This statement was issued to emphasize that there was no criminal intent in Yu Menglong's death.
Social media has been abuzz with several videos allegedly showing Yu Menglong being bullied by those around him. However, the statement released by the agency was not immediately accepted by the public considering there was no evidence that the statement was written by Yu Menglong's mother.
In an anonymous post on Weibo, some said that Yu Menglong was bullied to the point that he screamed before he was found falling from the balcony at 02.00 local time. Yu Menglong died at the age of 37.
