Choo Young Woo is opening up about love, growth, and learning to be more cautious in the spotlight. The actor spoke on December 24, 2025 while promoting his youth romance film 'Even if This Love Disappears from the World Tonight', in which he plays Kim Jae Won, a young man who helps preserve the memories of his first love, Han Seo Yoon (Shin Sia).

Choo said he was encouraged by early reactions to their chemistry. “People seemed to really like the chemistry between me and Shin Sia,” he shared. “When the casting news came out, I kept hearing that we suited each other, and that gave me confidence going into filming.

After watching the movie, I agreed—we worked well together.” He also reminisced about his real-life first love from high school. “She was incredibly smart,” Choo recalled. “I first noticed her at a freshman welcome event when she was called up as the top student and received a scholarship. She looked amazing.”

Wanting to get closer, he studied harder than ever. “I did narrow the gap, but she was just on another level. I’m sure she ended up at a top university.” Describing his dating style, Choo said, “When I’m in a relationship, I give everything.

If the person I love is happy, that makes me happy.” Still, he’s currently single. “I’m just too busy. I’m heading to Japan for a fan meeting soon and going straight back into filming. With this schedule, I’d probably get dumped.” Despite that, Choo admitted he’s a romantic at heart.

“I watch a lot of dating shows when I’m alone,” he said, naming Netflix’s Better Late Than Single as a favorite. His relationship advice is simple: “If it doesn’t work, break up. If it’s a good person, treat them well.” Looking back on a packed year, he added, “Time really flew by, but I lived it intensely.

I’ve grown as an actor, but more importantly, I like who I am now. I’ve learned what really matters.” Choo also briefly addressed his past social media controversy, saying it became one of the big reasons he’s become a homebody.

Earlier this year, he faced criticism after it was revealed he followed sexually suggestive influencers and broadcasters previously linked to sexual harassment allegations, later unfollowing them and apologizing.

“The more love you receive, the more careful you have to be. Even small mistakes can disappoint people. It made me realize I need to move more cautiously—sometimes it really feels like the world outside is risky.”
