South Korean boy group CIX has officially disbanded after a seven-year career. On April 29, 2026, C9 Entertainment announced that the group's activities were halted ahead of the expiration of the members' exclusive contracts.
The agency explained that this decision was made after months of lengthy discussions. Despite efforts to ensure the group's continuity, both parties ultimately agreed that separation was the best course of action at this time.
This separation follows the expiration of each member's contract at different times. BX and Seunghun's contracts will expire on April 30, 2026. Yonghee's contract expires on his enlistment day on May 11, where he will serve as an active duty soldier.
Meanwhile, Hyunsuk's contract will expire on May 31, 2026, to give him time to complete the filming process for his ongoing drama. In its official release, C9 Entertainment expressed deep sadness over this decision, considering the great dedication that has been given to building CIX's musical identity since their debut on July 21, 2019.
"Although we have repeatedly had serious and in-depth discussions with the members over the past several months regarding the continuation of group activities, everyone has finally come to the agreement that at this point in time, halting group activities is unavoidable," said a C9 Entertainment representative.
The agency also asked fans (FIX) to continue to support the members on their respective new paths. "We ask that you give warm encouragement to the members who will do their best in their respective lives and show new sides of themselves in a new environment," the statement continued.
Despite the group's official hiatus, the agency offered fans a glimmer of hope for the future. They stated that they would continue to communicate with the members so that the "CIX" branding could one day return to greet fans with their distinctive musical style.
Regarding Yonghee's enlistment, the agency confirmed that there will be no official farewell event at the military base. However, a small fan farewell event is being planned, and details will be announced on the fan cafe soon.
