Mark Lee, a former member of NCT, recently made headlines after being seen wearing a t-shirt with symbols associated with far-right ideology. This controversy led to an apology from his independent agency, Upper Room, on June 23, 2026.

In an official statement posted on their social media accounts, Upper Room stated, "We deeply apologize for the concern, inconvenience, and disappointment caused by the vintage t-shirt seen in the recently shared photos."

The agency acknowledged that they should have been more careful and that they had tried to ensure the symbol did not appear in official content. However, they admitted, "Despite these efforts, the image was still shared and caused concern."

Upper Room continued, "Regardless of our intentions, we recognize that we should have handled this situation more carefully. Ignoring this is entirely our responsibility."

They also added, "We understand the seriousness of the concerns raised and deeply apologize for the pain this incident has caused." At the end of the statement, the agency emphasized, "We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt hurt, offended, or disappointed by this matter.

We promise to act with a greater sense of responsibility, awareness, and care in the future." This commotion has become even more public attention because Mark Lee , a Canadian citizen, recently left SM Entertainment to establish his own independent label, Upper Room.

This certainly wasn't a good start to his solo career. The t-shirt worn by Mark Lee features the Confederate flag, which was the official symbol of the Confederate states that supported slavery during the American Civil War.

Throughout the 20th century, the flag became widely known as a symbol of racism and far-right movements. In fact, displaying or selling items with the Confederate flag is actually restricted or prohibited in some parts of the United States.
