Winwin officially parted ways with SM Entertainment on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The agency stated that he would not renew his contract as a member of the NCT group and would leave all related units.
"After discussions with Winwin, we have agreed to terminate his exclusive contract effective July 9, 2026. Winwin will end all activities as a member of NCT," SM Entertainment said.
"We are so grateful to Winwin, who has been with SM Entertainment for over 10 years since his trainee days. We are so grateful for the time we've shared together and for supporting his new journey. Thank you," he said.
Winwin, known as Dong Si Cheng, then wrote a letter to NCT fans via his Instagram account. "From being a trainee to debuting as a member of NCT 127 and WayV, I'm grateful for the people I've met over the past 10 years.
Sometimes, I look at old photos from years ago, and each photo brings back memories and stories," Winwin wrote. "When I was young and inexperienced, SM gave me the opportunity to debut as a member.
They also gave me the opportunity to stand on stage and meet all of you. From my first moment as an SM artist, I knew I wouldn't be who I am today without those experiences," he continued.
In his letter, Winwin also expressed his gratitude to NCT and WayV fans, Czennie and WayZenNi, who have supported him throughout this time. He also expressed his hope that everyone will achieve their dreams.
Winwin debuted as a member of NCT 127 in 2016, but he began to be absent from group activities since 2018. The agency itself did not explain the reason for Winwin's absence from all activities until now. Later, Winwin joined one of NCT's units called WayV in 2019.
This sub-unit focused on promotions in Mandarin but he was also absent from group activities for several years. In 2021, he established her own management company to support her activities in China, including acting and variety shows.
This year, she starred in the drama "A Splendid Match" and is preparing for the dramas "Qia Feng Chun," "Sunshine Through the Rain ," and "The Boundless Bright Moon."
