Another NCT member has announced his departure from SM Entertainment. Following Mark and Ten, Winwin has now officially terminated his exclusive contract. The Chinese member last participated in promotions with his group in 2023.
He was involved in the album and content for NCT 2023 Golden Age. He then promoted the sub-unit WayV's album, though his presence was limited due to filming conflicts in China. For the past three years, Winwin has kept fans wondering about his status with SM Entertainment.
Finally, today, Wednesday (July 8, 2026), SM Entertainment confirmed that Winwin has also ended his activities with NCT. "After discussions with Winwin, we have agreed to terminate his exclusive contract starting July 9, 2026.
As such, Winwin will end all of his activities as a member of NCT," SM Entertainment said in a statement, as reported by Soompi. Following SM Entertainment's statement, Winwin shared a message for his fans.
The singer, whose real name is Dong Sicheng, reflected on the 10 years he spent between training and debut. "Sometimes I look at old photos from years ago, each one bringing back precious memories with a story behind it.
Of course, there were times when I felt tired and days when I faced setbacks and difficulties. But more than that, what remains etched in my heart are moments filled with happiness, joy, and unforgettable emotions."
"When I was young and inexperienced, SM gave me the opportunity to debut as a member. They also gave me the opportunity to perform on world stages and meet all of you."
"These past ten years will remain one of the most precious chapters in my life going forward," Winwin said. At the end of his message, Winwin thanked all the fans who supported him throughout his journey.
He debuted as a member of NCT 127 in 2016 before joining NCT's sub-unit, WayV, in 2019. Two years later, Winwin established his own studio in China. Since then, he has focused on managing his solo activities as a drama and reality show actor.
Winwin has starred in popular dramas such as Sweet Games (2023), Snow Fall (2024), Perfect Match (2025), and Sunshine Through the Rain (2026). He is next scheduled to make his big screen debut in Blades of the Guardians alongside Jet Li and Tony Leung.
