South Korean singer and actor Park Jihoon recently revealed his dream of playing a villain in an interview with Newsen. His success in dramas like 'Weak Hero Class 1' and 'The King's Warden,' which aired last February, attracted a large audience, with a total of 16.88 million viewers as of June 2, 2026.
Since his debut in 2017 through the group Wanna One, formed from the program 'Produce 101 Season 2', Park Jihoon has built his career as one of the talented young actors. He has starred in various popular dramas, including 'Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency', 'Love Revolution', and 'At a Distance, Spring Is Green'.
In the interview, he stated, "I'm always grateful when people call me by my character's name. Sometimes, it feels better than hearing my own name." One valuable experience he shared was while filming "The Legend of Kitchen Soldier," where his co-stars called him by his character's name, Kang Sungjae.
"When someone subconsciously calls me by my character's name, it feels amazing," he said. He felt it showed he was doing a good job. In the interview, Park Jihoon also shared what kind of character he wants to play in the future.
"If I had one wish, I would want to play a villain. Most of the characters I've played are good people who fight injustice. Honestly, I'm curious about how I would portray the role of a villain," he added. Park Jihoon then revealed, "I want to be the worst person in the world.
You know how when an actor stars in a daily drama and the mothers at the restaurant will get completely involved and talk about it? I'm curious about how people would perceive me if I played a villain in a successful project. I'm also curious about how I felt on set while playing that role and how I would express it."
