Kim Soo Hyun is reportedly ready to return to the entertainment industry. Previously, Kim Soo Hyun was known to have been in a slump following his scandal with Kim Sae Ron. Kim Soo Hyun's return was marked by a recent commercial shoot in the Philippines.
The Queen of Tears (2024) actor was chosen by the Philippine fashion brand, Bench, as a model and brand ambassador. This was clarified directly by Gold Medalist's management on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), as reported by the Korea JoongAng Daily.
Modeling for Bench marks Kim Soo Hyun's first return as an actor after the scandal that tarnished his reputation. He had been on hiatus for over a year and four months following his relationship with Kim Sae Ron. Slowly but surely, the truth of the matter is beginning to emerge.
Much of the evidence has been confirmed to be fabricated. The whistleblower, Kim Se Ui of YouTube's Hoverlab, is now being held on charges including defamation, violating the Act on Special Cases Relating to the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, making threats, and attempted coercion in Kim Soo Hyun's relationship with Kim Sae Ron.
But when the scandal was at its height, many of Kim Soo Hyun's projects had to be canceled. One of them was the Disney+ drama "Knock-Off," which was supposed to air this year. Furthermore, several brands have also withdrawn their partnerships with the actor.
Many of these brands are suing Kim Soo Hyun and his agency for damages. On July 8, 2026, a trial was held at the Seoul Central District Court between Kim Soo Hyun and Gold Medalist and the brand Eider.
Eider had previously sought 2.5 billion won in damages from the actor for image damage caused by the Kim Sae Ron case. The company later reduced its claim to around 400 million won.
It ultimately withdrew its claim for damages related to the controversy, instead requesting a refund of the remaining modeling fees paid through future endorsements. Even though Kim Soo Hyun still has to settle lawsuits with several other brands, it seems like a breath of fresh air has begun to blow around the 1988-born star.
Kim Soo Hyun is currently in the Philippines, having arrived there on July 14, 2026. Aside from his activities with Bench, Gold Medalist has not provided any further information regarding Kim Soo Hyun's activities in the entertainment industry after this.
