The prestigious MTV Video Music Awards 2026 returned this year. BLACKPINK's Lisa won the Best Pop award. This marks the first time an Asian solo artist has received the award.
Thanks to her single "Dream" (feat. Kentaro Sakaguchi), she won the award. The awards ceremony was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, USA, on September 27, 2026 local time.
Not only does Lisa set a record as the first Asian solo artist to win the category, but she's also the second Asian artist to win it. In 2020, BTS won Best Pop. As she stepped onto the stage, Lisa shed tears after receiving the trophy.
"Thank you so much to everyone. I am so grateful for this wonderful award," she said. "I want to express my sincere gratitude to those who have helped create this song and inspired me," Lisa continued.
This year, Lisa was nominated for four categories thanks to her song Dream, namely Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing. The MTV Video Music Awards is a popular music awards event from the United States which was first held in 1984.
Along with the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and American Music Awards, it is considered one of the most prestigious popular music awards events in the United States.
