BTS shone at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). They swept all three nominations in different categories, proving their star power in the K-Pop and global scene.
The winners of the 2026 MTV VMAs were announced on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Los Angeles time, at the Peacock Theater. The event was attended by music heavyweights including Madonna and Taylor Swift. BTS emerged victorious in the Song of the Year category for their song SWIM.
The BIGHIT MUSIC artists beat out HUNTR/X, Madonna & Sabrina Carpenter, and RAYE, BTS is the only boy band nominated in this category! They're also the first K-Pop group to win Song of the Year in MTV Video Music Awards history.
BTS's second win at the 2026 MTV VMAs came in the Best K-Pop category. Here, they beat several HYBE Labels artists, including Cortis, LE SSERAFIM, and KATSEYE. Lastly, BTS also won the Best Group social category.
Jungkook and his bandmates beat BLACKPINK and Cortis in the K-Pop scene; as well as several other big names, including FLO, Fuerza Regida, Geese, KATSEYE, and Twenty One Pilots. 2026 marked BTS's fifth win in the Best Group category.
"We sincerely thank ARMY for their unwavering love and support. Arirang is an album that feels like a new beginning for us, making these awards even more meaningful," BTS said in an official statement released by their management.
"In particular, winning a major award like Song of the Year with SWIM was made possible thanks to everyone who loves our music. Moving forward, the seven of us will continue to deliver quality music and performances together," they continued.
