SEVENTEEN's DK recently faced criticism after being seen crying during a live broadcast ahead of his military enlistment. The video sparked heated debate about military service in South Korea, with netizens reacting to his emotions in a mixed manner.

In the live broadcast, DK expressed his deep feelings ahead of the enlistment, creating a touching moment for many fans. However, when the video went viral, he was showered with negative comments. Many netizens interpreted his crying as a sign of weakness and harshly criticized him.

"Not an ounce of sympathy, yall made it hell for BTS so I truly dgaf, pack your bags," wrote one netizen on Twitter, demonstrating the harsh criticism DK received. The comment suggests that there is a segment of fans who feel that idols should not show their emotions in public, especially ahead of military enlistment.

Several other netizens also joined in the criticism, calling DK a "manchild," expressing their dissatisfaction with the way he expressed his feelings. "What a pussy. Pack your bags and go to the military," said another account, expressing their views quite strongly. However, amidst the criticism, many fans and netizens have come to DK's defense.

They emphasize that showing emotion, especially in stressful situations like military enlistment, is nothing to be mocked. "Mocking a man for showing vulnerability or getting emotional is just pure toxic masculinity," wrote one netizen, highlighting issues surrounding toxic masculinity.

"This is why I will never understand K-Pop stans using military service for fanwars, laughing at idols for having to go," he continued. Many argue that military service in South Korea can have serious mental health consequences and should not be the subject of ridicule among fans.

“As long as we keep shaming men for being vulnerable, we'll never make it out of the patriarchy,” wrote another netizen, pointing out that the stigma against men who show their emotions is still very strong in society. This situation demonstrates the complex relationship between K-Pop idols and their fans, especially when it comes to sensitive issues like military service.

While some may view emotions as a sign of weakness, many believe that expressing feelings is a part of humanity that should be respected. DK, known for his melodious voice and charisma on stage, is now facing new challenges outside the entertainment industry.

With his military enlistment looming, many fans are hoping he will stay strong and receive the support he needs during this difficult time. This moment also reminds us of the importance of empathy and support for one another, especially in an industry that is often very tough and stressful like K-Pop.
