Chinese tech company, Vivo has launched its new Y-series smartphone, called the Y55 5G, in Taiwan. The device carries a price-tag of NTD 7,990 (around Rs. 21,500) and is available in two color options. As for the key highlights, the handset comes with a Full-HD+ LCD display, , a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, a 50MP triple rear camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The Y55 5G arrives as the latest addition to Vivo's affordable Y-series of smartphones. In terms of specifications, the handset seems similar to the Y55s 5G model, which was announced in China last month with a 6,000mAh, the brand's biggest on a smartphone to date. However, the Y55 5G offers a redesigned camera module housing an additional depth lens, lesser RAM, and a smaller 5,000mAh battery.

As for official pricing and availability, the Vivo Y55 5G is priced at NTD 7,990 (around Rs. 21,500) for its solo 4GB/128GB model in Taiwan. The smartphone is available in Black and Blue color options. Details regarding its availability in the international markets are not known yet.

The Vivo Y55 5G bears a 6.58-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2408 pixels) IPS LCD screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The smartphone features a waterdrop notch design with a noticeable bottom bezel and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. On the rear, it has a rectangular triple camera module. In terms of dimensions, it measures 164x75.84x8.25mm and tips the scales at 187g. 

In terms of optics, the Vivo Y55 5G is equipped with a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, a 2MP (f/2.4) macro lens, and a 2MP (f/2.4) bokeh snapper. For selfies and video calling, it has an 8MP (f/1.8) front-facing camera. The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y55 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. At the heart, it runs on Android 11-based Funtouch OS 12 out of the box. For connectivity, the smartphone offers support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, a headphone jack, and a Type-C port.
