Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi has introduced its budget device, called the Redmi 10, in India. It carries a starting price-tag of Rs. 10,999 and will go on sale through mi.com, Mi Home, Flipkart as well as select offline stores from March 24 onward. The smartphone comes with an HD+ display, a Snapdragon 680 chipset, a 50MP main camera, and a 6,000mAh battery.
The Redmi 10 replaces last year's Redmi 9 model. However, the Indian variant is completely different from the Redmi 10 model available in the global markets. Instead, it looks more like a rebranded version of Redmi 10C that was announced in Nigeria recently. In India, the Redmi 10 takes on the Samsung Galaxy M21 (2021) Edition, Motorola Moto E40, and Realme C35.
The Redmi 10 flaunts a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20.6:9 and a peak brightness of 400-nits. The display supports WIDEVINE L1 for OTT streaming and has Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone has a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera, prominent bezels, and a plastic body. On the rear, it gets a physical fingerprint scanner and dual cameras.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Redmi 10 has a 50MP (f/1.8) primary sensor and a 2MP portrait camera, paired with an LED flash. It offers 1080p video recording at 30fps. For selfies and video calls, there is a 5MP front shooter. The smartphone packs a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast-charging.
Under the hood, the Redmi 10 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 680 SoC, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. It also benefits from 2GB of Virtual RAM. At the heart, it runs on Android 11-based MIUI 13 OS out of the box. Connectivity options include dual-SIMs, LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS, a Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
For official pricing and availability in India, Redmi 10 costs Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB/64GB model and Rs. 12,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant. Buyers will be able to grab the handset in shades of Caribbean Green, Midnight Black, and Pacific Blue. The device will go on sale from March 24 onward.
