BTS, who was recently appointed as the ambassador for Busan World Expo 2030 Busan, is rumored to be holding a global concert in the metropolis for free ! According to Allkpop's report on Sunday August 8, 2022, it is hoped that the BTS concert in Busan will be able to attract around 100,000 people to visit Busan and it will be the largest event ever held in Busan.
So far, BTS's agency HYBE Label has agreed to make the concert a free show in order to attract more tourists to Busan. BTS's concert in Busan will mark their first performance in South Korea since their 'Permission To Dance On Stage' concert held in Seoul in March. In addition, this concert will be BTS's first concert as a full group since the seven members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook announced to focus on solo activities since June.
Jo Yu-jang, head of the Busan World Expo Promotion Division said, "BTS's global concert for Busan Expo 2030, will be held on the largest scale never experienced." The plan, the concert will be held in October. Not only will they hold concerts, as ambassadors, BTS will also carry out various promotional activities for Busan World Expo 2030 based on their global influence.
BTS was officially appointed as the ambassador for Busan World Expo 2030 on July 19, 2022 through an official ceremony at the HYBE building, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by all members of BTS as well as Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Mayor of Busan Park Hyung-joon, Chairman of SK Group Choi Tae-won, as well as CEO of HYBE, Park Ji-won.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon commented, "BTS is a global artist who best fits the World Expo's goal of proposing universal values that respond to a new era and present future prospects." Meanwhile, Prime Minister Han chimed in, "I would like to express my special thanks to BTS, a global star that people around the world are proud of for being willing to become ambassadors for Busan World Expo 2030."
